Worked example

A 55% edge at +100 odds on a $1,000 bankroll says bet 10% — $100 — at full Kelly. Most pros bet half-Kelly ($50) to smooth the swings.

FAQ

What is fractional Kelly?

Betting a fraction (often half) of the full Kelly amount. It sacrifices a little growth for much lower volatility and risk of ruin.

What if Kelly says bet zero?

A zero or negative Kelly number means you have no edge at those odds — the calculator clamps it to 0, i.e. don't bet.
